Preparing for Sabbatical Time

In three months we will be launching into a time of sabbatical when I will be stepping away from the St. James’ community for fourteen weeks. As you may recall, in 2020 we were awarded a clergy renewal grant from the Lilly Foundation. This grant will be funding my sabbatical activities as well as covering the cost of interim clergy and parish renewal events while I’m away.

I am pleased to share that the following members will be serving on our sabbatical team in preparation for this time:  Dave Rak, Annie Horrigan, Lynda Ellis, Joan Fader, Lucy Winston, and Blix Winston. They will be working over the coming months to help me plan my leave-taking and return, to help orient interim clergy, to assist with pastoral care, and to organize parish activities. They’ll be sending out regular updates so be on the lookout for exciting information coming soon.

Alongside the sabbatical team, the vestry, boards, ministry chairs, and staff will remain responsible for the ongoing work of the parish, thrift shop, and nursery school. We will have a planning meeting in May to set direction for the summer and fall.

I am excited by the opportunities this sabbatical time will provide for all of us. If you have questions please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Yours in God’s peace,
Kristin+

Dear Friend,
You are invited to complete a survey! You’ve attended a listening session or are planning to do so. What’s next? Another tool the Bishop Search Committee uses to inform the forthcoming profile is a survey. This survey will take approximately 15-20 minutes to complete.

All who worship in the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland are invited to complete the survey. The more data that is collected through survey submissions, the more complete a picture the Search Committee will have of the wants and needs of the diocese to draft the profile. The survey is available here: https://episcopalmaryland.org/bishop-search/.

Please share with your congregations and at regional meetings!

Deadline to complete the survey is April 4!
Prayerfully,
Ms. Vicki Willard
The Rev. Randy Callender
Co-Chairs, Bishop Search Committee

Join us on April 3rd for a camp open house to meet some camp staff, play games, see the beautiful campus, and ask any questions you might have about camp. Especially for first time campers and families considering camp at Claggett, the event is open to all. Bring the whole family and invite your friends. You won’t want to miss out on the fun!
