Spiritual parenting? Parenting spiritually? Let’s just call it figuring it out together.

Beginning in January, on the third Sunday of every month during Sunday School (9:30-10:15), I will lead a spiritual parenting group for parents and grandparents.  If you’re anything like me this parenting thing can throw you for a loop at times, especially when it comes to the hard questions our kids ask about life and faith and the world we live in.  This monthly time for gathering, then, will be a way for us to create a circle of wisdom and support – and have fun too!

I’ve led groups like this in various incarnations over the last 9+ years.  We’ve done everything from book studies, to topical sessions (bullying, teaching our kids how to pray, developing family ritual, etc.), to a series on virtues and values and how we teach them to our children (and learn what they have to teach us).

One of the truths I learned when I was a teacher, and that is just as true in the church, is that a crucial component of children’s formation (Sunday School) is formation for parents and grandparents.  So please mark your calendar and plan to join me January 17th (there will of course be coffee and good stuff to nosh on) as we begin the conversation here at St. James’ about parenting spiritually and talk about what topics are important to us to begin exploring.

In peace,
Kristin+
