A time for conversation

Over the next two Sundays I hope to sit down and start a conversation with many of you.  I say start, because one of the things I believe is that healthy relationships require ongoing conversation.  Conversation comes from the Latin roots con (together) and verto (to turn).  At its most basic, then, conversation means to turn together or to turn to one another.  This is what we do when we converse – and when we do it with open hearts we find that once the conversation is started we are able to put it down and pick it up again over time, turning, growing and changing together.

That is my hope as we kick off the Adult Formation Forum this Sunday.  This week’s theme is Ask the Rector and it will be a chance for you all to begin to get to know me a bit better.  Next week I’m calling The Rector Asks Back, and that will be a time for me to ask you all some broad but important questions about St. James’.  It will also be a time to hear from you what you would like in this chunk of time going forward.  Topical one-off forums?  An inquirer’s class?  A book study?  So many possibilities!  Bring your thoughts to share.

in peace, Kristin+
