St. James’ Episcopal Church Sunday School 2014-2015

We ended our Sunday School classes for the summer on May 31st and the closing ceremony was held during 10:30 worship. Hopefully you had an opportunity to attend and give thanks for all the wonderful youth of our parish: Sunday School students, acolytes, youth group. What a terrific bunch of kids!

In addition to our Living the Good News curriculum activities, each 4th Sunday of the month a group activity took place. They included a scavenger hunt, passport to Jerusalem journey, a come-as-you-are Christmas pageant, making Modge-Podge Lenten coin jars, tree hanging bird treats for our feathered friends, an outdoor butterfly display, and continued A is for Africa outreach projects.

On June 7th a special communion instruction class will be led by Fr. Bill at 9:30 a.m. in the lower level – why we do it and how we do it. All Sunday School children and their parents are encouraged to attend. We hope you will take advantage of this opportunity.

We thank our dedicated team of teachers who have enjoyed working with your children every Sunday: Yvette Allen, Betsy Davis, Joan Fader, Jon Fader, Robin Kaizer, Nancy Nanavaty, Peter Sabonis, Cathy Schell – and Meghan McKeever (Youth Group).

We are now recruiting teachers for the fall and hope you will consider this rewarding ministry. The Living the Good News curriculum is lectionary based, teacher friendly and age/grade related. Some of our teachers enjoy team teaching and/or term teaching. If you think you are interested in teaching and would like to borrow a lesson guide to look through, please contact Joan Fader (301-798-2576) faderj1@juno.com
