Hello, fellow pilgrims. I’ve spent the past six weeks outlining our spiritual and missional camino at St. James’ Mt. Airy. We are now ready to begin preparations for “walking” this pilgrimage of faith, discovery, and service.
We formally recognize this pilgrimage together as The Camino of St. James’, Mt. Airy. Inspired by the international pilgrimage to the resting place of St. James the Greater in Santiago de Compostela, The Camino of St. James’, Mt. Airy, seeks to embrace our community’s identity as a pilgrim people, walking together toward Christ and reaching out together toward the world.
Pilgrimages are by nature transformational. Much like our witness to Christ’s transfiguration, our witness as pilgrims changes our perspective and makes our mission clear and visible—vibrant, even. It is Christ opening our eyes to our own transfiguration as Divinely called disciples of Christ, and our sending-out by Christ as apostles.
In the next few weeks, a vestry member may reach out to you to seek your participation in one or more of the five paths along our camino. I may even reach out to you myself. I ask that you prayerfully and faithfully discern how you might best participate in the upbuilding of this parish community and its mission. Together, we can accomplish great things in Christ’s name and service.
I look forward to embarking on this pilgrimage alongside you.
Remember:
Every pilgrim arrives by a different road, and we all converge at Christ.
You are Beautiful and you are Beloved.
Angela+
