Hello, fellow pilgrims. Last week I introduced you to our Camino’s fourth path: FAITH. This week I will introduce you to the fifth path we will be walking together as a community: ADVOCACY.

ADVOCACY
A pilgrim does not escape the world. A pilgrim transforms the world. We are called as Christian disciples to strive for justice, mercy, truth, and human dignity; to speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves (Proverbs 31:8-9), to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly (Micah 6:8), to care for the least of these (Matthew 25:35-40)—to love our neighbor (Matthew 22:39).
Christ calls us to:
- Embody the values and teachings of The Holy Gospel (Romans 12:2)
- Reflect the transformative power of Christ in the world (Phil 1:27)
- Discern and support the common good through prayer, outreach, and witness.
Where do you see Christ crucified today?
Where are the wounds of the world?
In your life? In your community? At St. James’?
As we travel along this path together, we will establish partnerships with local advocacy groups (MEPPN, Mt. Airy Net, Autism Society of America, Advocates for the Homeless, Dementia Strategies Group, and so on). Our hope is to establish accessible pathways to faithful advocacy and service.
