Vestry Class of 2024-2026

Bryant Dulany – Nursery School Liaison

Member of St. James’ Church along with wife, Karen, since moving to Mt. Airy in 1986. We have 3 adult children who attended Sunday School at the church. I graduated from Hiram College in Ohio earning a BA in History and that is where I met Karen who graduated with a teaching degree. Retired in 2022 from work at Lowes in Frederick. Previously had worked in sales of data communications products.

Over the years at St. James’ I have served on the Vestry, served on a minister search committee and served as an usher. For the past 15 years I have served as the church coordinator with the Red Cross which holds blood drives at St. James’ twice a year.

It has been great worshiping Christ at St. James’ Church over the years, and there we have enjoyed getting to know many fantastic people. St. James’ is a great place to find a wonderful church family.

Chris Henyon

Chris Henyon grew up in Idaho. After graduating from nursing school in Portland, Oregon her and a classmate decided to check out life in Washington DC. It was there that she met Mike Henyon, yes the nurse fireman clichés…but it worked…30 years later and they are still happily married! In July of 2000 the Henyon’s with their three children moved to Mount Airy Maryland.

Chris was raised in the Catholic Church and after marrying Mike transitioned to the Episcopal Church. She has always found comfort and strength being a Christian. Soon after moving to Mt Airy the Henyon’s noticed this cute little church on the corner of Main and Buffalo. They went there for service one Sunday and have never looked back. St James’ gave them a community when they knew no one and was a huge influence in raising all three of their children. It was bitter sweet leaving that old church but it has been wonderful watching St. James’ grow and flourish. Over the years Chris has participated in multiple ministries: Sunday school, youth group, nursery, coffee hour hostess, chalice server, alter guild, and Thrift Shop board chair.

Chris is currently a nurse at Frederick Health Hospital. You will find her most mornings at Health Unlimited trying to hedge off aging and immobility. Chris loves to read, loves her dogs, spends a lot of time in her gardens during the summer, and every winter you will find her skiing on the slopes in Idaho.

Carla Kaufman

Carla Kaufman has been a member of St. James’ since 2009. She was born and raised in Cumberland, MD. She now lives in Damascus, MD with her husband Tom.

Carla is a graduate of Frostburg State University where she received a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She also graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a master’s degree in Special Education. She is employed as a special education teacher at Sherwood High School in Montgomery County.

Carla is currently a member of the Board of Trustees of the Claggett Center in Adamstown, MD. She has also served on Diocesan Council representing the Frederick region.

In her spare time, Carla enjoys crafts and sewing. During the summer, she enjoys camping with her husband, Tom.
