Sabbatical Newsletter, Issue 5, June 14, 2022

A Sabbatical Prayer Guide us, Lord, as we all journey through the months ahead together. Help us to walk trustingly in faith with our parish family and to serve one another humbly. May we always be aware of your presence and direction in all we do. Amen.

This issue our focus is on “who’s in charge of what” while Kristin+ is away. The vestry Executive Committee will assume most leadership responsibilities for the church, alongside the vestry overall. The Thrift Shop Board and Nursery School Board will guide their areas of ministry and report to the vestry per usual. Other church ministries will continue to run under the leadership of individual ministry chairs. So, who do you call if something comes up or you have a question? The Executive Committee Dave Rak (Sr. Warden) is the overall point person. Jim Bullington (Jr. Warden) is the person to contact about anything related to buildings and grounds. Natalie DelRegno (Treasurer) is who to reach out to for financial matters. Pastoral Care Lucy & Blix Winston are our pastoral care team and they are who to contact in case of a pastoral emergency. We are grateful that the Rev. Sharon Watts from Grace, New Market will be our clergy person on call, and Lucy & Blix will connect her to people when needed. They’ll also make communion visits and are available if you need someone to pray with or talk to. The Daughters of the King will continue their ministry of daily prayer for our community. Call or email Joan Fader to get added to the prayer list. Building Use, Parish Calendar, and Other Odds & Ends Parish Administrator Laura Davis is a good catch-all person if you have questions about day-to-day events and activities related to using the building, the parish calendar, The Shell Newsletter, bulletin announcements, etc. If you need the latest copy of the parish directory with updated contact information for everyone listed above please call or email the parish office (301-829-0325 / office@stjamesmtairy.org) to request either a pdf or hard copy. We can’t wait to see you this Sunday for our sabbatical leave-taking event. It will include a farewell liturgy, a catered picnic, and prayer tokens and take-home resources for all ages. Didn’t sign up? Don’t worry! Come anyway, we planned ahead for you to be with us! In peace, Dave Rak, Annie Horrigan, Joan Fader, Lynda Ellis, Lucy & Blix Winston, Kristin+
