Rector – Get Even More WAY OF LOVE!

“The way of Jesus is the Way of Love.  And the Way of Love can change the world,” Presiding Bishop Michael Curry says in his new podcast, The Way of Love: with Bishop Michael Curry.

These weekly conversations, which launched last Sunday on Pentecost, explore living a life committed to living the way of God’s unconditional, unselfish, sacrificial, and redemptive love.

I know we have a lot of Bishop Curry fans in our congregation, and if you haven’t yet had a chance to read our spring book discussion group selection by him, The Power of Love, add it to your summer read list – you won’t be disappointed!

And now, for even more Bishop Curry, you can enjoy these new weekly podcasts which will cover different topics all connected to The Way of Love.  In the first episode, which you can listen to here, (https://wayoflove.episcopalchurch.org/) Bishop Curry talks about what it means to live by a rule of life.  To listen to future episodes be sure to bookmark that link or scroll to the bottom and sign up to receive email notifications of new episodes.

Whether you listen every Sunday as soon as new podcasts are released or binge several episodes at once, I hope this new Way of Love resource brings you joy and helps you deepen your spiritual life.

Yours in God’s peace,
Kristin+

Outreach

The dog days of summer are finally approaching and the outreach committee has a summer plan in place to benefit Mt. Airy Net and the children from area schools.  Some children in our schools are in a program that allows them to have free breakfast and lunch during the school year.  What happens when school is out?  We want to ensure that these children will still have breakfast and lunch by donating items like cereal, breakfast bars, pop tarts, juices, canned fruits, canned soups, crackers, tuna, mayo, canned spaghetti and anything else that is appropriate to Mt. Airy Net.

As always we thank you for your generosity and support.  The grocery cart for net is getting full and food items will be delivered every two weeks until school starts.  Thank you.

During the summer months, the Daughters of the King will continue to pray for our parish family on a rotating schedule.  We will be able to catch up with one another at fellowship during our combined summer worship service at 9:30 a.m.  It is our hope that everyone enjoys the summer and has an opportunity for renewal and relaxation.

For the Good use of Leisure (Book of Common Prayer)

             O God, in the course of this busy life, give us times of refreshment and peace;
and grant that we may so use our leisure to rebuild our bodies and renew our
minds, that our spirits may be opened to the goodness of your creation through
            Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

A SUCCESSFUL SPRING QUARTERMANIA!
Thank you very much to each of you who helped me with preparations before, during and after the event to once again make our Quartermania fundraiser a success.  For our annual June event last week we earned a profit of $1,192.25 for our church!

I am so appreciative for the wonderful St. James’ family we have that steps forward when there is a need—as you can see it definitely takes more than one person!

Gratefully,
Marilyn Hancock
Quartermania Chairperson
