Vestry

As we move into Spring, please keep two dates on your calendar.

On Saturday, May 11, the Building and Grounds crew have scheduled a clean-up to start at 8:00 am.  If yard work is not your cup of tea, we will also be cleaning the kitchen at that time.  Don’t worry if you can’t stay the entire morning, an hour or two goes a long way!

On Thursday, May 16 at 6:30 pm, St. James’ will be hosting a CPR with AED training class.  The cost of the class will be from $40-$50 based on the number of participants.  A minimum of 10 participants is required.  All materials are included in the cost of the class.  Please sign up in the narthex or call the church office at 301-829-0325 to reserve your spot.  Contact Ty Conlon with any questions at thomas.conlon@montgomerycountymd.gov.

Thrift Shop

Hello from St. James’ Thrift Shop!

Has Spring sprung?  You can’t tell by the weather but you can at the Thrift Shop.

We have changed over from Fall/Winter to Spring/Summer. Come check out our Easter window. We have everything from baskets to bunnies to egg-dying kits. We have Easter dresses for adults and children.

Keep this in mind: Thrift shopping is probably the only consumption that’s environmentally friendly:  When you buy an item you’re keeping it out of the Landfills, where an estimated 85% of used clothing winds up every year.

At St. James’ Thrift Shop you can find your basics for a tenth of the price.

Do you have growing kids or grand kids that change in size every six months to a year? I know I do. My three-year-old grandson changes sizes about every eight months. The shop makes it easy for my daughter to buy clothes at a reasonable cost.

St. James’ Thrift Shop is always looking for volunteers. So please come check us out. Give thrifting a try. You never know what treasure awaits you!

Whether shopping or donating you are giving!

Thrift with purpose!

WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS

Office Schedule for the week of March 31.
Monday – Thursday 10-4.

Holy Living & Holy Dying
The last installment in our Lenten series will take place this Sunday at 11:45 am.  Kristin+ and Richard will discuss “Planning Your Memorial Service!”   It’s everything you ever wanted to know about a Celebration of the Resurrection and thanksgiving for the life of yourself or a loved-one.

Bishop’s Discretionary Fund
As is customary when we receive a diocesan visitation, our loose-plate offering will be given to the Bishop’s Discretionary Fund which sets aside funds to be used for the poor and other charitable purposes.  You are welcome to write a check made payable to the “Diocese of Maryland” designated for the Bishop’s Discretionary Fund and drop it in the offering plate on Sunday, April 7.  We will have one service at 10:30 am.

Easter Egg Hunt!
It’s time to get ready for our Easter Day egg hunt!  We are asking folks to bring in filled plastic eggs – stickers, erasers, seashells, charms, and printed scripture verses (as well as candy!) are all possible ideas.  Empty eggs are available to pick up in the narthex, please return them to the marked plastic bin by Easter Day.
