From the Rector – Appalachia Here We Come-With Your Help!

We are excited to share that so far TEN youth and adults from St. James’ will be going on the summer service trip to St. Timothy’s Outreach Center in Irvine, Kentucky!

The cost of the trip is $450 per person, and we’ve asked everyone going to contribute $200 towards that, with the hope to fundraise the balance.  We’ve also had generous scholarship donations to help support people cover that cost and be able to go.

This leaves us with a fundraising goal of $1,200 thanks to money saved for service trips from previous generous support, and money the Youth Group has earned from re-setting the church space after events.

So how can you help us get to Appalachia?

We have several fun and easy ways in the coming months:

March 9th – 5:00-9:00 pm Eat at iHop in Mt. Airy
Bring our flyer and we’ll get 20% of sales

March 11th – Festive Brunch after church
It’s Replenish & Establish Kick-Off Sunday
Combined worship at 9:30 am – then stay for brunch and a presentation
A free-will offering will be collected

March 25th – 1:00-4:00 pm Bowling Party
We’ll be selling tickets for a party at Mt. Airy Bowling Lanes
Bowling, shoes, drinks, and disco lights!

March 28th – 5:00-9:00 pm Eat at California Tortilla in Mt. Airy
No flyer needed – just enjoy taco Wednesday

Thank you in advance for your generous support which will enable us to transform lives in one of the poorest parts of our country.

Yours in God’s peace,
Kristin+
