St. James’ Sunday School Happenings

The Sunday School closing ceremony-recognition is scheduled for June lst at 9:30 a.m. in the Great Hall. All students and teachers will be recognized at this time. We give thanks for a wonderful year together.

We were pleased to welcome Mary Ann & Rick Smith, directors of A is for Africa, to our outdoor worship service on May 25th. At that time our students presented them with their Lenten mite box outreach contribution as follows:

$ 775.36            Mite box coins from our parish family
$775.36    Matching funds from Outreach Committee
$1,550.72              Total contribution to A is for Africa

Thank you all for supporting this outreach project. The timing was perfect because the Smiths and other volunteers departed for Africa on May 30th. Our outreach donation will assist the Matimu school children in Tanzania. We can’t wait to receive “pen pal” replies from the students.

During the month of May our classes bid farewell to Vanessa and Eli Hudson-Odoi. They will be spending time with relatives and attending school in Ghana. The children sang “we will miss you until we meet again”.

After a long winter and short spring, we know that everyone is looking forward to a more relaxed summer schedule. Be safe – and don’t forget to send a postcard from your travels to our church address!

With sincere thanks to our dedicated teacher volunteers:
Allison Griffin (Bible Stories for Preschoolers coordinator)
Betsy Davis (Kindergarten – 1st Grade)
Robin Kaizer and Cathy Schell (2nd – 3rd Grades)
Yvette Allen (4th – 5th Grades),
