Our Mission
To focus upon ministering to the community as Jesus Christ ministered to the multitude, helping return individuals and families to a state of physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being as a Christian community outreach program.

History
The St. James’ Thrift Shop was started years ago, by a lifelong Mount Airy resident and members of St. James’, in an old two-story building on Main Street. The entire Mt. Airy community would drop off clothing, furniture and appliances to the Thrift Shop for resale. For many years, the volunteers of this shop would sort and resell the clothing and other items that people donated. People came from everywhere to stop and shop at the store because they knew there were real bargains to be found. The Thrift Shop also often donated clothing and household items, and continues to do so, to fire victims, the Pregnancy Crisis Center, the Frederick Rescue Mission, animal rescues, foster families, public schools, the Lions Club, Mt. Airy NET, the Jaycees, A is for Africa, the American Legion, the Red Cross, the Mt. Airy Senior Center, Dwelling Place, Hands of Hope, and others in our community experiencing a hardship.
