From the Rector – What Are You Waiting For?

The time is NOW to sign up and join us
for a life-changing service trip this summer!

COMMIT NOW

for the Summer 2018 Appalachia Service Trip – July 22-27

Parts of Appalachia remain some of the poorest areas in our country.  The work we will be doing with St. Andrew’s, Glenwood at the St. Timothy’s Outreach Center on Barnes Mountain in Irvine, Kentucky is transformative.  In the past, projects have included roofing work, home construction/remodeling, casket making, and hosting day camp days for local kids.  We will also be preparing backpacks filled with school supplies to give out to those in need.

This trip is open to everyone in the parish, but especially teenagers and adults. If you have an older elementary age child or middle schooler you’d like to bring, see Kristin+ for details.

The total cost for each participant is $450, which covers transportation, meals, and work supplies for the week.  We are asking everyone to pay $200 and we’re committed to fundraising the balance.  Financial aid is available too – contact Kristin+.

Deadline is NOW

$100 non-refundable deposit to St. James’ required

Email Kristin+ to sign up and then email Nancy Smith at St. Andrew’s
to request a registration packet  (neksmith.standrews@gmail.com)

Yours in God’s peace,

Worship Ministries

Chalice Servers
Our chalice servers assist our Rector at the altar during communion by offering the cup (the blood of Christ).  This is a very honorable ministry made available to the laity by our Episcopal Church.  This ministry provides an opportunity to serve our church in a rewarding, and humbling manner.

We currently have 19 chalice servers.  Five are youth servers that provide on 4th Sundays at the youth led service.  All serve on a rotating basis according to a monthly schedule.  One server supplies at the 8:30 service, and does the readings.  Two supply at the 10:30 service.  Our servers are: Jane Barger, Jim Bullington, Cory DelRegno, Lynda Ellis, Carolyn Etzler, Jon Fader,  Jeannie Pellicier, Liz Peterson, Aline Sautter, Deb Schaeffer, Steve Stowell, Richard Straus, Maureen Suckling, and Blix Winston.  I would like to Thank Paula Morrow, who is moving, for her excellent service.  Our youth servers are Emily Albertson, Kaley Henyon, Kali Nanavaty, Caroline Pellicier, and Lindsay Smith.  Our list has been growing slowly.

Those that are interested in this ministry or have questions should contact Jon Fader 301-703-8787 faderj1@juno.com.  Jon Fader provides training for this ministry.
