All the goodness in our lives comes from God.  We are Stewards of God's abundance and called to account for how we use what is God's.  It is expected that every Christian will give generously of his/her time, talent and treasure to supporting the Lord's work in thanksgiving for what God has done in their lives.  Giving toward mission and ministry is truly sacramental, a real self-offering of the body of Christ, and an important element in our corporate Eucharistic worship each Sunday.  The Episcopal Church maintains that the biblical tithe (10%) is the standard for Christian giving.  Weekly pledges are the norm and envelopes are provided for those who wish to use them. If you work on commission, you can pledge a percentage of your income by estimating an amount (to assist us in budgeting) and noting your intentions on your card to pledge a percentage of actual.  In addition to a regular monetary pledge, each member can also help by defraying occasional but necessary expenses by either contributing ''in kind'' donations or through offering of time and talent for specific needs (i.e., plumbing repair, mowing, etc.)

Receiving Treasurer keeps weekly tabs on your pledging income to the church and sends out quarterly statements for your records.  If you need help to work out your church pledge, would like to request envelopes, or would like to help please contact Aline Sautter.

Parish Finance Committee is charged with planning, support, and evaluation of parish finances.  It meets monthly.  Interested in assisting?  Please contact Jane Barger.

Every Member Canvas annually gathers financial pledges for the support of our mission and ministry so we can plan for the future with some certainty about our financial situation.  The ingathering normally takes place each fall; however, new pledges are welcomed at any time.

Memorials are gratefully accepted.  Parish guidelines are available.  Any permanent attachments to a building must be approved by the Vestry.

Planned Giving is encouraged. All members are urged to make provisions in their wills for bequests, special gifts and endowments to the parish.  Questions?  Please contact Rev. Portia.

Operations is responsible for routine maintenance for our buildings.  Work weekends are scheduled at various times during the year for major cleaning, painting, and other seasonal work.  If you would like to schedule any portion of the building for a non-congregational event, please complete a Building Use Guideline and Application.  These can be obtained in the church office.  Operations is also responsible for overseeing and/or maintaining the lawn and gardens (including the beautiful Peace Garden), arranging for snow removal and generally keeping things looking great.  Helping hands always needed to weed, water and fertilize the gardens.  Help is always especially needed in the spring and fall.  If you'd like to help with this ministry, please contact the parish office.

Housekeeping at St. James is dependant on simple courtesy.  We share our space with various community groups, the Nursery School, and of course with one another.  And while we have a Sexton who takes care of washing floors, emptying trash, etc., everyone's cooperation is needed to keep our building clean and hospitable.  Please take responsibility for the spaces you (or your children) use by leaving them clean and tidy (dishes washed, trash emptied if food items or diapers are involved, floors swept).  Please put away any materials or equipment you get out.  This includes the playground!  If you are the last one to leave the building, please check to make sure all doors are locked and lights are turned off.  Thanks!
