THE ARTS Participates in group music experiences, creative movement, dance and drama Uses a variety of art materials Identifies and names colors: red, blue, black, green, yellow, purple, brown, orange and white
SOCIAL STUDIES Identifies parts of the body Show awareness of classroom rules
LANGUAGE AND LITERACY Listens and understands simple communication Follows 2-step directions Recognizes some letters Speaks in sentences or words to make himself/herself understood Shows appreciation of books Shows interest in letters and words Comprehends and responds to stories read aloud Uses scribbles and unconventional shapes to write Recognizes his/her name in print
MATHEMATICAL THINKING Sorts objects by one attribute Counts from 1-10 Recognizes numbers 1-5 Counts up to 5 objects with one-to-one correspondence Identifies six shapes: square, circle, triangle, rectangle, star and heart Shows understanding of positional words (over/under, on/off) Show understanding of comparative words (big/little)
SCIENTIFIC THINKING Uses senses to observe and explore classroom materials Begins to use simple tools for investigation
These outcomes are included on the Threes Developmental Checklist completed by teachers following the first and second half of the school year. Our program outcomes are taken from the Work Sampling System (published by Pearson Early Learning). The teachers keep portfolios for each student making assessment an ongoing process done throughout the school year. Parents are welcome to conference at any time during the year. We ask that all parents attend a conference in January each year. Revised March 2010
