Shrove Tuesday--February 21st!
Have you got your Mardi Gras mask and beads all ready?? We'll gather for pancakes, sausage and applesauce on Tuesday, Feb 21st, beginning around 5:30 to chow down.
If you are willing to help set-up, flip and/or clean-up, donate pre-cooked sausage or applesauce, or otherwise contribute to this wonderful evening of good food, good company and good music, please let Jon Fader know ASAP! First Annual Golf Tournament Fundraiser - 4 Person Scramble!
This event will be held Tuesday, May 29th 2012 at Holly Hills Country Club in Ijamsville, MD. Registration is from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm. The event will have a shotgun start commencing at 1:00 pm.
The cost for this event is $100 per person/$400 per team. This price includes entry into all events, 18 holes of golf, riding cart, range balls and awards banquet. The deadline for entry is May 15th 2012.
To help us properly plan for this event, please pre-register by completing the entrance form.. Mail payment to St. James’ Episcopal Church, or contact Charlotte Oswald with your completed entry form.

Organist/Choir Directior - St. James' Mt. Airy
St. James' Episcopal Church, 1307 N. Main St., Mt. Airy. 3 manual, Trillium 908 Masterpiece Rogers organ (four years old) with MIDI, a Stienway spinet piano, hand drum, and Roland keyboard. We also have symphonic level musicans who play the oboe and the flute. This position is for one Sunday service at 10:30 a.m., one weekly choir rehearsal (Wednesdays at 7 p.m.), and Sunday morning warm-up--plus special feast days. 1/4 time (~10 per week depending on time of year). Separate fee for weddings (and first refusal). Salary: AGO BS rate scale commensorate with experience and ability. Seeking an organist/choir director who enjoys a variety of music, who is a team member and enjoys working with adults and young people. We are a multigenerational congregation in a new building with growing numbers of young families. We are initiating a 4th Sunday Youth Sunday with contemporary music at the 10:30 a.m. service beginning in January--where youth musicians are encouraged to accompany and will lead in many aspects of our Sunday worship. Thrift Shop Manager - St. James' Mt. Airy
St. James' Mt. Airy is looking for a Part-time Manager with proven retail management experience for its Thrift Shop, 235 S. Main Street, Mt. Airy. Prior management experience in a Thrift Shop or Consignment Shop a real plus. The Manager works 20-30 hours per week (including one Saturday and one Thursday evening per month), supervises and schedules volunteers and employees, manages payroll and budget reporting, supervises donation processing and pricing, and participates in the monthly Thrift Shop Board meeting. 2012 - 2013 Nursery School Registration!
St. James' Nursery School in Mt. Airy, currently in its 38th
year of serving the community, will begin registering new families for the Fall 2012 school year on
Monday, 2/6/12 at 1307 North Main Street. New families registering a child for the 2's, Preschool 3's,
and Pre-K 4's program can do so beginning at 8:00 AM on 2/6/12. Alumni families can register prior to
public registration on 2/1-2/3/12. Our school is accredited through the National Association for the
Education of Young Children (NAEYC.org) and is listed as an accredited school on the Maryland State
Department of Education's website. The school will continue to accept registrations following this
initial registration event. Parents can call the nursery office at 301-829-0014 for more
information, to set up a tour and/or to request an information packet. Information about our
program and a registration form is also available from our website
