A New Paschal Candle Stand for St. James’

This Sunday at the beginning of both services we will bless a new Paschal candle stand.  The current stand, a lovely gift from the Wolcott family years ago, has, through normal wear and use, suffered some damage.  The main pole has developed a tilt which makes it unstable when the tall Paschal candle is being used.  We were able to use it for our Advent wreath this year, and will continue to use it in this way going forward.  The new Paschal candle stand was a gift from an anonymous parishioner, and I thank them for their generosity.  It is black wrought iron to visually match the stand for our baptismal font.  This Sunday we will be baptizing two children of the parish, and using it for the first time.  Below you can see both a full picture of the stand, and a lovely detail of the candle holder at the top.  I look forward to blessing this stand for our common use, that it may be a sign to us of the light of Christ which burns perpetually in our midst.

Yours in God’s peace,
Kristin+
