This Sunday three members of the team who went on the recent service trip to Texas will be offer reflections as part of the sermon at both services. We will get to hear about the facility and program where they served, Straightway Training Center, and stories of their work and the people they met. PowerPoint presentations for adults and with the Sunday School are in the process of being scheduled, so keep your eyes open for those and plan to come and hear more about their time of service and see the amazing work they were able to do.
This yearly service trip hit a transition point this year. What began as a few people in our community wanting to experience service trips has begun to grow into an important part of our youth ministry. This is an exciting time as we celebrate the service that has been given, and begin to vision for how to root this ministry more deeply at St. James’. Please say a prayer for thanksgiving this years’ group: Meghan, Katie, Jeannie, Emily, Amanda, Caroline, Maria, and Matt – and hold all those who will plan, vision, grow, and participate in these service experiences in the years to come.
