The format All students preschool through 5th grade will meet in the church Great Hall (by the altar) for an opening prayer and music at 9:30 a.m. each Sunday. Following the opening, parents are invited to remain for coffee/fellowship and teachers/students will proceed to their assigned classrooms in the lower level. Class signs will be posted. Grades 6th through 12th may report directly to their classrooms at 9:30 a.m.

Bible Stories for Preschoolers Each Sunday a different Bible story will be shared with our little ones during class time in the lower level foyer area . Volunteers are encouraged to participate on a monthly schedule. Please contact Yvette Allen: yallen@asbury.org

Curriculum We continue to use Living the Good News curriculum for all grade levels, kindergarten through high school. It is lectionary based and classes will be hearing the same (age appro-priate) lessons that adults hear during worship. The leader guides are user-friendly and volunteers are encouraged to participate in this teaching ministry.

“4th Sunday Fun” On the 4th Sunday of each month, all grades participate in a group activity together (many outreach projects) in the lower level foyer space. This popular activity gives our students an opportunity to get to know one another better while the older youth assist the young-er students. In addition, our older youth participate in the 10:30 a.m. worship service every 4th Sunday.

Christmas Pageant Each year during December, students and parents are encouraged to participate in a pageant. Creative costumes are provided for the beautiful story of Christ’s birth.

Reminders (1) A registration form should be completed for each child attending Sunday School. (2) Attendance is taken weekly and special recognition is given at our June closing cere-mony. If you plan to be away, advising the teacher of this fact will be helpful when planning lessons. (3) Teachers often bring snacks. If your child has a food allergy, please make the teacher aware of this fact. (4) Please arrive on time. For safety reasons, we do not want children leaving the building or in the play area unsupervised.

It is important that parents participate in worship along with their children.
They learn and grow in faith through the examples that we set.
